Living in Zurich

Switzerland is one of the most attractive countries in the world in which to live and work, renowned for its high standard of living, safety and some of the most stunning scenery. Zurich is the largest city in Switzerland, even larger than the capital city Bern and the well-known Geneva. There are over 380,500 residents in Zurich with 31% of the population being non-Swiss nationals. Zurich made up 24% of Switzerland’s total GDP in 2016 and was the largest contributor to the country’s economy. The multicultural city is considered Switzerland’s economic centre and its focus on financial services makes it the ideal location for expat tax professionals.

Here is a list of advantages of living in Zurich as an International Tax professional:

  • Zurich is well known for having a high standard of living, and therefore expats can look forward to state-of-the-art amenities

  • Most expats are transferred from international offices or headhunted and therefore can look forward to great remuneration packages and high salaries

  • Zurich prides itself on having a low crime rate, making it a safe destination for families

  • The city is well known for boasting a variety of shopping outlets (high street and designer) and restaurants of many cuisines from across the globe

  • An exceptionally high standard of healthcare

  • You will enjoy pleasant weather in the summer, making it an ideal location for those who wish to partake in outdoor sports and activities, and in the winter it offers itself to snow sports, including skiing
